"And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour." Judges 6:11-12
The phrase, "little is much when God is in it," has not only been a great encouragement to many folks (especially smaller churches), but has been proven true time and time again.
God reinforced this great truth in my heart anew as I was reading about Gideon. Here is a man who was "small" in his own eyes and went to battle with a "small" band of men, yet God gave a great victory.
The following are some thoughts about Gideon and God's call upon his life.
God called a man who was working.
God called a man who did not expect to be called.
God called a man who felt incompetent to be called.
God called a man who was greatly burdened for the spiritual well-being of his people.
God called a man that He (God) would eventually equip for the "ministry" God called him to.
God called an obedient man.
God called a man who struggled with fear.
God called a man who was willing to follow the methods God gave him.
God called a man who was eager for God get all the glory.
Little, truly, is much when God is in it!
