LOVE & CONCERN FOR USA

2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

You do not have to be around the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church very long to realize that we love our country dearly.

With our great love for our country comes a great concern for the well-being of our country.  As Bible believers, we are grieved to see the direction our country has been traveling.  We know what the Bible says about a nation that "forgets God" (Psalm 9:17).

For the sake of coming generations, we must turn to God's Word and follow very carefully the instructions he has given us to bring our nation back to God.  The following list is some Bible principles from 2 Chronicles 7:14 for God's people to incorporate into our lives to see revival come to our land:

• Humble Ourselves Before The Lord.  The Bible is clear: pride brings destruction and humility brings honor, blessing, restoration, and life.  The root sin of Sodom was pride and prosperity.  The beginning point for turning our nation back to the Lord is God's people humbling themselves before the Lord.
  

• Prayer.  Nations like ours are the focal point of the spiritual warfare that has been raging for thousands of years.  Prayer is the primary weapon we have to bring down the Satanic strongholds that have captured our land.  Perhaps the great problem with our nation is not the liberals who deny the Bible or the abortionist who kills the unborn, or the pornographers who poison our minds, but the Christians who neglect to pray.  Until we humble ourselves and pray, we'll not see revival.
  

• Seek The Lord.  We must be honest, our love for the Lord has gotten awfully cold.  As Bible believing Christians, we have sought for pleasure, possessions, popularity, and prosperity, but we have neglected our love for the Lord.
  

• Getting Thoroughly Right With The Lord.  For far too many years, we have preached against the liberals, abortionists, sodomites, etc., and failed to deal with the sins in our own lives and churches. The great tragedy in our land is not that sin is tolerated in the White House, the court houses, and our city halls, but that sin is being tolerated in the CHURCH HOUSES!  God's call to godliness is first and foremost to HIS PEOPLE!
  

With these thoughts in mind, and with all the turmoil in our nation and around the world, our nation needs the Lord Jesus Christ. All though is sounds so simplistic, Jesus really is the answer to all of our world's, nation's, home's, and individual needs. At the root of all of our issues is the "sin problem," and only Jesus Christ can adequately deal with, forgive, and remove sin. I have often thought that if even just the principles our Lord laid out in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) were implemented, we would live in a much more peaceful, loving, and gracious world.
