"SUNDAY SCHOOL"

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Some of my earliest memories of attending church involve a Sunday School class I attended as a young child. In that class, my Sunday School teacher emphasized the importance of knowing Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Her devotion to the Lord, His Word, and her concern for her students' salvation sowed the seeds of the Gospel in my heart, which bore fruit many years later. The Sunday School ministry at our church is extremely important.

God blesses the church that believes and obeys His Word and diligently teaches His Word in the Sunday School program.

The following are 12 reasons I believe every member of every family should be faithful to the Sunday School hour...

1. Sunday School Is Pleasing To God. 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." God is pleased when His people study His Word together.

   
   

2. The Bible Instructs Us to Assemble Together to Study His Word. Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Sunday school is a vital part of the overall Sunday services.

   
   

3. Coming To Sunday School Is More Beneficial Than Sleeping In.  Our flesh likes a day off, but our Spirit hungers for the Word of God.  

   
   

4. Sunday School Reinforces the Pastor's Pulpit Preaching, Strengthens the Sunday School Teachers' Gift of Teaching, and Helps Develop Church Leadership.   A good properly run Sunday School is a key factor in the development of any church's spiritual health and wellbeing.

   
   

5. Sunday School Sets The Right Example For Our Children. Coming to Sunday School together as a family has a profoundly positive effect on every member of the family. A proper Sunday School is designed for every member of every family, not just the children and bus kids.

   
   

6. Sunday School Prepares Our Hearts For The Preaching Service.  

   
   

7. Sunday School Is a Blessing! The fellowship with others who love the Word of God is a blessing.  Our program is designed so that the study of God's Word is both, enjoyable and practical for each age group. 

   
   

8. Sunday School Is A Great Time To Get To Know The Other Members Of The Church & Establish Strong, Christian Friendships. To those that attend regularly, why not find someone new to sit with this Sunday.

   
   

9. Sunday School Equips Us To Live For & Serve The Lord More Effectively. Ephesians 4:11-12, "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"

   
   

10. Attending Sunday School Helps Us To Be Sure To Be On Time For The Preaching Service.

    
    

11. Sunday School Will Strengthen Our Faith And Walk With God. Romans 10:17, "so then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." The systematic and thorough study of God's Word in the Sunday School class strengthens our faith and reinforces our daily devotions and walk with God

    
    

12. Sunday School Gives Us A Fresh Start For The New Week.

In Sunday School, you will learn what God has to say to us in His Word and you will learn principles for successful Christian living.
