What A Good Preacher Does

The Apostle Paul was a good preacher! I don't think he was necessarily a dynamic preacher, or an entertaining preacher, or a humorous preacher. But, he was a good preacher that God used in amazing ways to bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Some have the idea that a preacher's job is to simply make people feel good. Some of the false prophets of the Old Testament had this idea. In Jeremiah 6:13-17; 8:7-12 judgment was coming, but rather than declare God's Word, they tried to make God's people "feel good."

A good preacher is not a spiritual psychologist.

A good preacher is not an entertainer.

A good preacher is not a social worker.

A good preacher is not a big fuzzy teddy bear.

• A good preacher faithfully proclaims the Word of God with passion

  (with all his heart).
  

• A good preacher faithfully proclaims the Word of God with purity

  (with a pure heart & life).
  

• A good preacher faithfully proclaims the Word of God with power

  (filled with the Holy Spirit).
  

The Apostle Paul was a good preacher.
